Every resume example is written and reviewed by our team of Certified Professional Resume Writers to ensure top-quality content and formatting.

AI tools like Jasper and Copy.ai now draft email sequences, social copy, and campaign briefs in minutes. Your resume has to prove you do more than what software already handles. Employers are still hiring marketing assistants, so the challenge is standing out fast.

A marketing assistant resume typically clears a keyword scan, then a recruiter check, then a hiring manager read. Smaller teams often skip straight to the manager. Show campaign execution across channels with HubSpot, Mailchimp, or Google Analytics, and back social and content work with engagement or traffic numbers.

From entry-level coordinator roles to digital marketing and content specialist tracks, the examples below help you frame campaign support, tool fluency, and cross-team work. They show you how to get read.

Tip !

Hiring marketing managers look for the tool stack and one campaign metric on the first page, because it shows whether you can move a number on the channels they already run.

Why this resume works

  • Caught a costly data error: The broken UTM bullet shows judgment, not just task execution, which is what hiring managers want from an assistant who will grow.
  • Numbers tied to a real channel: Open rate moving from 18% to 27.4% over four quarters reads like a real performance arc, not a one-time spike.
  • Mix of B2B and consumer work: Showing both SaaS and a healthcare brand signals she can shift tone and audience, which most small marketing teams need.

Entry Level Example

The entry-level marketing assistant resume is for the recent grad or intern stepping into a first full-time seat. It needs to prove you can run a content calendar, pull analytics reports, and own a Mailchimp send without supervision.

Why this resume works

  • Real internship results, not class projects: Leading with a measurable social win during an actual internship is stronger than the usual list of group-project keywords.
  • Honest about what is finished and in progress: Marking the HubSpot certification as in progress builds trust and tells the hiring manager he is still learning.
  • Matches what small teams actually need: Calendar ownership, proofreading, and event support are the exact tasks a first-year Marketing Assistant tends to inherit.

Experienced Example

The experienced marketing assistant resume is for someone two to four years in, ready to be promoted to coordinator or specialist. It needs to show campaign results, cross-channel ownership, and a tool stack that maps to the job posting.

Why this resume works

  • Grew into more responsibility: The path from intern at an outfitter to senior assistant managing a multi-million-dollar calendar reads as a real career, not a job-hop.
  • Owns vendors and budget, not just tasks: Calling out invoicing, quarterly reviews, and a $9.6M budget shows she operates above the typical coordinator scope.
  • Specific revenue number from email work: The $182,000 from a Klaviyo rebuild gives a hiring manager an easy story to share when defending the hire.

How to Write a Marketing Assistant Resume

01 Open with the channel a generic resume cannot claim

Add a single line a marketing manager cannot pull from any other resume in the stack. That can be a paid social budget you managed, a HubSpot workflow you built, a TikTok account you grew, or a B2B SaaS niche you worked in.

Put it in your summary or the top of your most recent role. Generic resumes say “supported marketing campaigns.” A standout resume says “managed $8K monthly Meta Ads budget for a DTC skincare brand.” That one line tells the reader the exact channel, scale, and industry context they need to keep reading.

02 Put numbers next to the channels you ran

Pull three numbers from your last role: open rate, follower growth, lead volume, click-through rate, or pipeline contribution.

If you supported the work rather than owned it, frame the scope instead. Try “coordinated a 12-email nurture sequence reaching 18K subscribers” or “published 40 blog posts that drove 22% of organic traffic.” Recruiters scan for the metric and the platform together, so keep them in the same bullet. A strong bullet names the tool, the action, and the result in one line.

03 Group the work by channel, not by task

Cluster bullets under the channels marketing teams actually staff: content and SEO, email and marketing automation, paid social and search, social media and community, and analytics and reporting.

Under each, name the platform and the deliverable. Content bullets cite the CMS (WordPress, Webflow) and posting cadence. Email bullets cite the ESP (Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot) and list size.

Paid bullets cite the ad platform and budget. Analytics bullets cite GA4, Looker Studio, or HubSpot dashboards. This structure lets a hiring manager skim for the channel they need filled without rereading every bullet.

04 Stack tools and certifications on page one

Marketing managers filter on tool stack before they read prose. Put a Tools or Technical Skills block near the top, under your summary, listing what you’ve actually used: HubSpot, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Salesforce, Google Analytics 4, Meta Ads Manager, Canva, Adobe Express, Asana, Figma.

Next to it, list certifications with the issuing body and year: Google Analytics Certification, HubSpot Inbound Marketing, Meta Certified Digital Marketing Associate. These signal you can start contributing without a two-week onboarding ramp. Keep the list honest; only name tools you can speak to in an interview.

05 Close with education and a portfolio link

For entry-level and mid-level marketing assistants, education stays on page one but near the bottom. List your degree, school, graduation year, and any marketing, communications, or analytics coursework that maps to the posting.

Add a portfolio or work samples link in the header next to your email. Marketing hires often turn on the work itself, so a Notion page, Behance link, or Google Drive folder with three to five samples carries weight. Include a campaign you ran end to end, a social post that performed, and a writing sample tied to a real brand voice. If you are early in your career, see our marketing intern resume examples for ways to highlight your projects and experience.

Most Popular Skills on Marketing Assistant Resumes for 2026

The skills below come from marketing assistant resumes our users built on ResumeTemplates.com. Marketing managers and demand-gen leads scan dozens of resumes a week, and these are the skills that show up most often. Hard skills carry more weight for this role because marketing teams hire on tool fluency.

Soft skills like project coordination back up the bullets that show you ran a calendar or a launch. Match the lists against your target job posting, and use soft skills as evidence inside campaign bullets rather than as a standalone block.

Communication 79%
Organization 55%

Creativity 30%

And here are the top hard skills showing up most often.

Hard Skills % of resumes with this skill

Based on data from thousands of marketing assistants’ resumes built on ResumeTemplates.com, May 2026.

Must Have on a Marketing Assistant Resume

Name the email and analytics platforms you used for campaigns.

Niche Keywords for ATS Checkers

Marketing managers expect a niche section that maps to the channels their team actually runs. Group your keywords by sub-specialty so the parser and the human reader both find what they need on the first pass.

Niche Keywords ATS scans for
Email marketing mailchimp, klaviyo, hubspot workflows, email automation
Social media coordination meta ads manager, tiktok, instagram analytics, content calendar
Content and SEO wordpress, semrush, on-page seo, keyword research
Analytics and reporting google analytics 4, looker studio, utm tagging, campaign attribution
Creative production canva, adobe express, figma, brand guidelines

AI Skills to Add

Describe how you actually use AI in your campaigns.

What AI is actually changing for this role
Content drafting

First-pass blog posts, social captions, and email subject lines often start in ChatGPT or Jasper, then move to human editing for brand voice.

Audience research

AI tools summarize survey responses, review pulls, and competitor copy faster, so assistants spend less time reading and more time briefing.

Analytics reporting

HubSpot and GA4 ship AI summaries that flag traffic anomalies, freeing assistants to write the narrative around the dashboard.

Visual production

Canva Magic and Adobe Firefly handle quick image variants for A/B tests, shifting the assistant's role toward art direction and review.

AI tools to name

  • ChatGPT: Drafting first-pass blog outlines, social captions, and email subject lines for editing.
  • Jasper: Producing brand-voice copy variations for landing pages and ad creative testing.
How to phrase AI on your resume
Pros
  • Used ChatGPT to draft first-pass outlines for 18 blog posts, edited for brand voice, contributing to 31% organic traffic growth.
  • Built Jasper templates for paid social copy variants, cutting creative-brief turnaround from three days to one.
Cons
  • AI-powered marketing strategist who revolutionizes campaigns with cutting-edge generative tools.
  • Leveraged AI to transform content workflows and supercharge brand storytelling.

Marketing Credentials That Get You the Job

Beyond a marketing or communications degree, the certifications below tell marketing managers which tools you can use on day one and which channels you’ve trained on. List the issuing body and the year earned next to each item in your credentials block.

  • HubSpot Inbound Marketing Certification: Free and widely accepted; signals you understand the funnel language and CRM workflows that HubSpot-shop teams use daily.
  • Google Analytics Certification (GA4): Shows you can pull traffic, conversion, and attribution reports without waiting on a senior analyst to build the dashboard.
  • Meta Certified Digital Marketing Associate: Validates Facebook and Instagram ad fluency; pair it with a budget figure on your resume to make it concrete.
  • Google Ads Search Certification: Useful when the job posting mentions paid search, SEM, or demand generation; signals you can run a search campaign under supervision.

Latest BLS Statistics for Marketing Assistants

The 90th-percentile marketing assistant out-earns the median by a wide margin, which tells you the market rewards tool depth and measurable campaign results more than years on the job. A resume that names HubSpot or Klaviyo workflows and shows lift on a real metric clears more screens than one that lists ten generic responsibilities.

Lead with the channels you’ve moved a number on, then the tools that ran them, and let the years of experience fall in line behind that proof.

$76,950 National median annual
$86,480 National mean annual

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications do employers expect on a marketing assistant resume?

Most postings ask for a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or journalism, plus six months to two years of hands-on work.

Show that work with internships, campus organizations, freelance clients, or a part-time content role. Back it with one or two free certifications like HubSpot Inbound or Google Analytics.

Fluency in at least one CMS, one email platform, and one analytics tool is usually the floor.

How do I show campaign results when I only supported the work?

Frame your contribution by scope rather than ownership. Write "supported a six-email product launch reaching 24K subscribers" or "drafted social copy for a campaign that drove 1,200 landing-page visits."

Name the platform, the deliverable, and the scale even when the strategy belonged to a senior teammate.

Recruiters read that as honest scope, not credit-grabbing, and it still tells them you've worked at real volume.

Should I include a portfolio link if I'm coming from internships only?

Yes. A portfolio link in the header carries more weight than a third bullet under each internship.

Label each sample with the brand, the channel, and the result.

A portfolio is often what tips an entry-level hire.

How should I handle AI tools like ChatGPT or Jasper on my resume?

Name them where they belong: inside the workflow, not as a headline skill.

Write "drafted first-pass blog copy with ChatGPT, edited for brand voice, published 12 posts per month" instead of "AI-powered content creator."

Marketing managers want to know which step you use AI for and which step you own with judgment. The honest version reads as competence; the hype version reads as bait.

Which resume template works best for a marketing assistant?

A professional template presents your campaign numbers and tool names in a polished format. For marketing, try an ATS-friendly template.
