4 Best Sales Resume Examples and Templates for 2026

Every resume example is written and reviewed by our team of Certified Professional Resume Writers to ensure top-quality content and formatting.

Every posted sales role pulls in a stack of reps swearing they hit quota, which is why your resume has to do real work before anyone calls. Employers are still hiring closers, so the fight is for attention, not openings.

Many hiring teams route sales resumes through an ATS keyword pass before a recruiter skims for quota history. Then a sales director digs in ahead of a panel with peers, though smaller shops often skip straight to the director.

Whether you're targeting an SDR, account executive, or enterprise sales role, the examples below span entry level through senior closers across inside sales, field, and channel. Use them to show quota ownership the way buyers of sales talent want to see it.

Tip !

Quota percentages and named logos are what get sales resumes past the recruiter's first 20-second scan; clean deal-size and cycle-length data is what makes them readable enough to advance to the sales manager.

Why this resume works
  • Numbers tied to revenue: The $1.84M ARR figure and 127% quota attainment give hiring managers a concrete read on production.
  • Built territory from nothing: Self-sourcing 60% of pipeline shows the rep does not need a marketing engine to hit plan.
  • Helped teammates grow: Mentoring SDRs who got promoted signals leadership without claiming a manager title.

Entry Level Example

Entry level covers SDRs, BDRs, and first-year account executives still ramping to full quota. This resume needs to prove activity volume, conversion to qualified meetings, and fluency with the prospecting stack you used.

Entry Level Example - Sales

Use This Template
Why this resume works
  • Beat the meeting quota: 142 meetings against a 120 target is a clear, simple number that proves the candidate did the job.
  • Got promoted early: Moving from BDR to SDR II in 9 months tells a manager the previous employer wanted to keep her.
  • Retail sales shows transfer: Including the outdoor store role with a real ticket-size metric proves selling habits started before SaaS.

Mid Career Example

Mid career covers account executives carrying a full book and senior reps owning strategic accounts. This resume needs to prove multi-year quota attainment, average deal size, sales cycle length, and named logos closed.

Mid Career Example - Sales

Use This Template
Why this resume works
  • Forecast accuracy stands out: Calling within 8% on most quarters is a number sales leaders care about as much as quota attainment.
  • Grew an existing book: Taking a territory from $740K to $1.3M proves expansion skill, not only new-logo hunting.
  • Promoted from inside to outside: Showing the climb from inside sales to mid-market AE gives the resume a clean story of progress.

Senior Example

Senior covers sales managers, directors, and VPs running quota-carrying teams. This resume needs to prove team quota attainment, ramp time, rep retention, and the revenue you grew under your number.

Senior Example - Sales

Use This Template
Why this resume works
  • Sells and leads at once: Showing personal close numbers next to team numbers makes clear this leader still carries a bag.
  • Cut the sales cycle: Dropping deal length from 11 to 7 months gives a hiring committee a concrete operational improvement to point to.
  • Long arc of quota hits: Listing four years of attainment percentages back-to-back proves this is not a one-good-year story.

How to Write a Sales Resume

01 Open with the number a recruiter cannot find on LinkedIn

Lead the summary with the one figure that separates you from the next AE in the stack. That usually means your last full year of quota attainment against a specific dollar number.

Write it as “125% of a $1.8M quota in FY24, closing 14 net-new logos.” A recruiter sees the quota size, the attainment, and the deal cadence in one line.

License lookups and LinkedIn profiles already show titles and tenure. They do not show your stack rank, your average contract value, or the segment you sold into. Put those in the first two lines.

02 Quantify every bullet with sales math

Strong sales bullets carry at least one of five numbers: quota percentage, revenue closed, average deal size, sales cycle length, or pipeline coverage. Bullets without a number tend to read as duties.

Name two or three real metrics per role. “Closed $2.4M in ACV across 22 deals at a $109K average, with a 47-day cycle” beats “exceeded quota consistently.”

If you sold into a regulated segment or a long-cycle enterprise motion, name the deal size and cycle anyway. Recruiters scan for those first, then they read the verbs. If you lead strategic accounts, see our sales executive resume examples for ways to present that scope.

03 Group your work by motion, not by task

Sort your bullets into three or four motions a sales manager recognizes: prospecting and pipeline build, discovery and qualification, negotiation and close, and account expansion or renewal.

Under prospecting, name your channels and tools: outbound sequences in Outreach or Salesloft, ZoomInfo and Apollo data, LinkedIn Sales Navigator territory plans.

Under discovery and close, name the methodology you actually ran. MEDDIC, MEDDPICC, Challenger, Sandler, or Command of the Message all carry weight when the rest of the bullet backs them up with numbers.

04 Put your CRM stack and methodology up top

Sales directors want to know the stack you can step into on day one. List Salesforce, HubSpot, or Microsoft Dynamics first, then the prospecting and conversation tools: Outreach, Salesloft, Gong, Chorus, Clari, ZoomInfo, Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator.

Place this block on page one, under the summary or just above experience. A recruiter scanning for “Salesforce + Outreach + Gong” should not have to hunt past the fold.

If you carry sales certifications like Sandler, Challenger, or a vendor sales badge, list them here too with the year completed.

05 Frame a career change with transferable revenue

Coming into sales from retail, recruiting, customer success, or account management is a common path in 2026. The resume needs to translate that work into revenue language a sales manager already speaks.

Pull out the closest thing to quota you carried: upsell targets, renewal rates, requisitions closed, expansion ARR, or service contract attach. Put a number on it.

Use the summary to name the segment and motion you’re targeting next, like “SMB SaaS AE, full-cycle inbound and outbound.” That tells the reader where to slot you before they read the history.

Most Popular Skills on Sales Resumes for 2026

Sales hiring is tight in 2026. Revenue teams are running leaner books, quotas are up, and the bar to clear a recruiter screen is higher than it was two years ago. The skills below come from our user-built sales resumes.

VPs of sales and sales directors weight the hard stack first: Salesforce fluency, a named methodology like MEDDIC, and outbound tools carry the screen. Soft skills like discovery questioning and objection handling back the bullets. Match the list below against your target posting, then use the soft skills as the evidence layer behind your quota numbers.

Soft Skills % of resumes with this skill
Communication 65%
Active listening 59%
Relationship building 48%
Negotiation 36%
Time management 29%

And here are the top hard skills showing up most often.

Hard Skills % of resumes with this skill
CRM software 77%
Lead generation 66%
Cold calling 48%
Sales presentations 37%
Territory management 33%

Based on data from thousands of salespeople’s resumes built on ResumeTemplates.com, May 2026.

Must Have on a Sales Resume

Before a sales resume gets a closer read, hiring teams verify a short list of licenses, tools, and compliance signals.

Niche Keywords for ATS Checkers

VPs of sales and sales directors expect the niche section to mirror the motion they hire for. Group the keywords below by the sub-niche that matches your last two roles.

Niche Keywords ATS scans for
SDR and BDR outbound sales development representative, outbound prospecting, cold calling, meetings booked
Account executive full cycle account executive resume, quota attainment, net-new logo, average contract value
Enterprise and strategic sales enterprise account executive, strategic accounts, MEDDIC, six-figure deal cycle
Sales management and leadership sales manager resume, team quota, rep ramp time, forecast accuracy
Retail and inside sales retail sales associate, inside sales representative, average ticket, attach rate

AI Skills to Add

AI use on a sales resume can go three ways: lead with “AI-powered closer,” which recruiters screen out, leave it off entirely, which reads as out of step with how 2026 outbound actually runs, or describe the workflow as it actually runs through Gong, Clay, and ChatGPT. The third is what sales managers can validate in a working interview.

What AI is actually changing for this role
Account research

Clay and ChatGPT compress account research from 30 minutes to 5, letting reps run deeper pre-call discovery before every outbound touch.

Outbound sequencing

Outreach and Salesloft AI assist now drafts first-touch emails, but reps still rewrite the hook and the call to action by hand.

Call review and coaching

Gong and Chorus surface objection patterns and talk ratios, which reps use to self-coach between manager one-on-ones.

Forecast accuracy

Clari and Salesforce Einstein score deal health, but reps still own the commit number in the weekly forecast call.

AI tools to name

  • Gong: Used to review discovery calls, flag objection patterns, and pull competitor mentions into account plans.
  • Clay: Used to enrich prospect lists, score account fit, and build personalized outbound sequences at scale.
How to phrase AI on your resume
Do
  • Used Clay and ChatGPT to research 40 target accounts per week, lifting outbound reply rate from 4% to 9% over two quarters.
  • Reviewed every closed-won and closed-lost call in Gong to refine discovery script, cutting average sales cycle from 61 to 47 days.
Skip
  • AI-powered sales closer driving exponential pipeline growth.
  • Leveraged cutting-edge AI to revolutionize the sales process.

Sales Methodology to Name on the Resume

Sales managers want to know which playbook you run before they read the numbers. Naming a methodology gives the rest of the resume a frame and makes your bullets easier to score against the role.

  • MEDDIC or MEDDPICC for enterprise SaaS and complex B2B:
  • Challenger for solution selling into business-outcome buyers:
  • Sandler for outbound mid-market and SMB pipeline:
  • SPIN selling for consultative discovery in long-cycle deals:
  • Command of the Message for value selling at the executive level:

Sales Credentials That Get You the Job

Beyond a four-year degree or the on-the-job ramp most reps complete, the certifications below tell VPs of sales and sales directors which methodology you run and which segment you can close in. List the certifying body and the year completed for each item.

  • Challenger Sales Certification: Signals you can run a teach-tailor-take-control motion in complex B2B deals, which most enterprise sales orgs want their AEs trained in.
  • Sandler Sales Certification: Reads as disciplined qualification and pain funnel work, which mid-market sales managers value for reps building outbound pipeline.
  • MEDDIC Academy or MEDDPICC Certification: Tells an enterprise sales director you qualify on metrics, economic buyer, and decision criteria, which shortens deal review cycles.
  • Salesforce Certified Administrator: Signals you can build reports, dashboards, and pipeline hygiene without RevOps support, which sales managers prize in player-coach hires.

Latest BLS Statistics for Salespeople

Sales representative is one of the larger occupations BLS tracks, which means the median pulls in a long tail of inside reps, junior AEs, and territory reps at smaller employers. The top decile rides on enterprise tech, medical devices, and capital equipment work where commission stacks high on top of base.

To position above the median, lead the resume with quota attainment percentages and the average contract value you carried, not the territories you covered.

$66,780 National median annual
$81,470 National mean annual
$37,860 Entry-tier floor (10th percentile)
$134,470 Top-decile ceiling (90th percentile)

Where you stand

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you describe sales experience on a resume?

Describe sales experience in revenue terms, not duties. Each bullet should name what you sold, the quota you carried, the percentage you hit, and the average deal size.

Write "Closed $1.6M in ACV at 118% of quota, 22 net-new logos in mid-market SaaS" rather than "responsible for selling software to mid-market accounts."

If you ran a specific methodology like MEDDIC or Challenger, name it once in the summary and let the numbers back it up below.

How should you describe a sales associate or retail sales role on a resume?

Translate retail and sales associate work into the same revenue language B2B sales uses. Name the average ticket size, units per transaction, attach rate, and where you ranked on the floor.

A bullet like "Ranked top 3 of 28 associates with a $142 average ticket and 38% accessory attach" reads as sales math, not shift work.

If you're moving into B2B, add a summary line naming the segment you're targeting so the reader knows where to slot you.

Does door-to-door sales experience belong on a resume?

Yes, when you put real numbers on it. Door-to-door work proves cold-call resilience, daily activity discipline, and close rate under pressure.

Frame it like outbound sales: doors knocked per day, contact rate, demos run, deals closed per week, and average contract value or commission earned.

SDR and field sales managers read this as a positive signal when the activity numbers and conversion math are on the page.

What should a sales resume summary include in 2026?

A sales summary should run three to four lines. Name the segment you sell into, your last full year of quota attainment, your average deal size, and the CRM and methodology you run.

Example: "Mid-market SaaS AE selling HR tech to 200 to 2,000 FTE buyers. 127% of $1.4M quota in FY24 on a $78K ACV and 52-day cycle. Salesforce, Outreach, Gong, MEDDPICC."

That gives a recruiter five filters in four lines, which is what gets the resume forwarded.

What's the best resume template for a salesperson?

For a salesperson, a professional template is the safest pick, because it signals the polish hiring managers in this field expect. An ATS-friendly template is a solid alternative. Whichever you choose, keep the formatting clean and easy to parse: clear section headings, a standard font, and no graphics a parser can choke on.
