4 Best Videographer Resume Examples and Templates for 2026

Last Updated: October 19, 2026

Every resume example is written and reviewed by our team of Certified Professional Resume Writers to ensure top-quality content and formatting.

AI tools like Adobe Firefly and generative fill now sit next to your camera and NLE. Creative directors expect you to know which shot a model can finish and which still needs a tripod and a gaffer. Employers are still booking videographers, so the challenge is standing out.

Your resume usually runs through an ATS keyword pass, then a recruiter scan, then a creative director clicking the reel link. Name the gear and software: Sony FX or RED bodies, Premiere or DaVinci, color and sound finishing, plus turnaround times and project volume.

Whether you're targeting a brand content, wedding and event, or broadcast videographer role, the examples below run from emerging to senior. They help you frame the shoot-to-screen value you bring.

Tip !

Creative directors decide whether to open the reel link in the first six seconds on the resume; if the camera bodies, NLE, and one named client aren't visible in the profile, the tab never gets clicked.

Why this resume works
  • Owns the full pipeline: Bullets show coverage from pre-pro through color, which is what mid-size shops actually hire for.
  • One strong revenue number: The $48,000 average project size plus 92% renewal tells hiring managers this work makes money and clients come back.
  • Names the gear: Listing FX6, RED Komodo, and DaVinci Resolve helps recruiters match the resume to specific shoot requirements.

Emerging Example

Emerging videographers are one to three years in, often coming off school projects, second-shooter gigs, or in-house junior roles. This resume needs to prove you can run a camera, cut a sequence in Premiere or DaVinci, and deliver on a brief without hand-holding.

Why this resume works
  • Concrete project volume: Six shoots a month gives a hiring manager a real picture of the candidate’s pace at this stage.
  • Reliability stat that matters: Zero-loss across 70 shoots speaks directly to the trust event clients need.
  • Internship without padding: The KOLD section sticks to what the intern actually did instead of stretching scope.

Established Example

Established videographers own shoots end to end and have a reel with named clients or six-figure view counts. This resume needs to prove pipeline ownership, repeat client work, and a clear specialty like brand content, documentary, or live event capture.

Why this resume works
  • Audience number with context: 1.4M cross-platform views ties the work to a measurable result instead of a vague claim.
  • Two clear lanes of work: Music plus nonprofit doc shows range without scattering across unrelated genres.
  • Shows crew leadership emerging: Managing a freelance pool of 8 signals readiness for a senior shooter or DP role next.

Senior Example

Senior videographers lead crews, set creative direction, and carry P&L on shoots or content lines. This resume needs to prove you've built teams, managed budgets in the tens or hundreds of thousands, and shipped campaigns that moved a client metric.

Why this resume works
  • Scope a senior hire needs to show: $1.25M in placed media and a 14-person crew make the seniority concrete rather than implied.
  • Career arc reads cleanly: Camera op to videographer to senior videographer to DP is a path hiring managers recognize.
  • Mentorship that helped the business: Promoting two operators to DP slots shows leadership tied to a real outcome for the company.

How to Write a Videographer Resume

01 Open with a profile that names your shoot scope

Your profile should state your years behind the camera, the kind of work you shoot most weeks, and the formats you deliver. Name the gear families you own or operate (Sony FX, RED, ARRI), the NLE you cut in, and the client tier you’ve worked with.

Lead the reel link in this block. Creative directors want to click before they read the next line. A profile that reads “brand content videographer, six years, FX6 and Resolve, reel at link” outperforms one that opens with “creative visual storyteller passionate about video.”

02 Translate shoots into numbers you can name

Videographer work quantifies well, so use it. Most strong resumes name project volume (40 brand spots a year), turnaround (24-hour edit delivery), and reach where you can get it from the client (3.2 million organic views).

Pair the metric with the role you played on set so the scope is clear. Producers and creative directors scan for shot count, deliverable count, and budget tier before they read the verbs.

03 Group your work by deliverable type

Break your experience into the categories you actually shoot: brand and commercial, social and short-form, documentary and interview, live event, and wedding or lifestyle. Under each, name the client or production company and the spot or series.

List the camera package, lighting setup, and edit role you carried per category. A producer reading a brand category wants to see Sony FX or RED, a gaffer or one-light setup, and whether you graded in Resolve. Keep each category to three or four tight bullets.

04 Put gear, software, and credits on page one

Your camera bodies, lenses, lighting kit, NLE, and color tool belong in a dedicated tech block near the top of page one. Creative directors and production managers need to know within seconds whether you can step onto their kit.

Add a credits or selected work block right under it with three to five named projects, the role you held, and the client. Certifications like FAA Part 107 for drone work go here too, with the year passed, not the registration number.

05 Cut anything that isn't shoot or post proof

If you’re five or more years in, cut the unrelated retail and service jobs, the high school AV club, and the soft-skill objective. Replace them with two more named shoots or a freelance client list.

Trim the skills section to tools you’d be billed on tomorrow. Drop “Microsoft Office” and “team player.” Keep Premiere, Resolve, After Effects, Frame.io, and the specific camera and lighting gear you own or rent regularly.

Most Popular Skills on Videographer Resumes for 2026

The skills below come from videographer resumes our users built on ResumeTemplates.com. Creative directors and production managers scan dozens of resumes a week, and these are the skills that show up most often. Hard skills carry the most weight here.

A producer wants to see Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and a named camera package before they read about your collaboration style. Match this list against the target posting and treat soft skills as evidence you back up inside bullets, not standalone claims.

Soft Skills % of resumes with this skill
Communication 66%
Creativity 64%
Time management 50%
Teamwork 39%
Attention to detail 35%

And here are the top hard skills showing up most often.

Hard Skills % of resumes with this skill
Video editing software 66%
Camera operation 54%
Lighting techniques 49%
Color grading 37%
Audio recording 35%

Based on data from thousands of videographers’ resumes built on ResumeTemplates.com, May 2026.

Must Have on a Videographer Resume

The lists below are sorted by shooting niche.

Niche Keywords for ATS Checkers

Creative directors and production managers expect to see the specialty named in your resume, not just “videographer.” Group the niche keywords under a Specialties or Selected Work block so the parser and the reader both catch them.

Niche Keywords ATS scans for
Brand and commercial brand content videographer, commercial videographer, branded video producer, agency videographer
Wedding and event wedding videographer, event videographer, live event camera operator, ceremony cinematographer
Freelance and contract freelance videographer, contract videographer, freelance camera operator, owner operator videographer
Documentary and interview documentary videographer, interview videographer, broll camera operator, doc-style shooter
Editor and post videographer editor, video editor, premiere editor, davinci resolve colorist

AI Skills to Add

Write where generative tools sit in your editing pipeline.

What AI is actually changing for this role
Pre-production

Treatment decks and storyboards are now built with Midjourney and Firefly to lock visual references with clients before the shoot.

Post and VFX

Generative fill in Photoshop and Premiere is replacing rotoscoping and plate cleanup for sign removal, set extension, and small object paint-outs.

Editing and assembly

Resolve and Premiere transcript-based editing tools cut interview assembly time roughly in half on documentary and brand pieces.

Color and finishing

AI relight and noise reduction in Resolve are pulling usable footage from low-light B-roll that would have been cut a year ago.

AI tools to name

  • Adobe Firefly and Photoshop generative fill: Used for plate cleanup, set extension, and treatment imagery during pre-pro and post.
  • DaVinci Resolve AI tools (Magic Mask, Voice Isolation, Relight): Used for rotoscoping, dialogue cleanup, and salvaging underlit footage in finishing.
How to phrase AI on your resume
Do
  • Used Photoshop generative fill to remove sponsor signage from 14 background plates, saving roughly six hours of rotoscoping per spot.
  • Cut documentary interview assembly time from three days to one using Premiere transcript-based editing across a 12-episode series.
Skip
  • AI-powered visual storyteller harnessing next-generation tools to revolutionize content.
  • Leveraged AI to transform the creative process and deliver innovative video solutions.

Portfolio Strategy

For a videographer, the portfolio is the actual gate. The resume buys you the click; the reel buys you the call. Build one short reel for the screen and a longer-form site for the second look.

#1 Vimeo

The default reel host for brand and agency work, with clean playback and password options for client-confidential cuts.

#2 Personal site (Squarespace, Cargo, or Webflow)

Lets you organize work by category, surface client logos, and host both reel and case studies in one URL.

Best for social proof Instagram and TikTok

Useful when your specialty is short-form social content and the client will judge you on platform-native delivery.

Best for broadcast YouTube

Right call for documentary, long-form, and broadcast samples where viewers expect chapter markers and high bitrate.

Lead with a 60 to 90 second reel cut to one track. Open on your strongest two shots and close on a named client logo or title card. Most creative directors stop watching at 30 seconds, so the first 30 has to carry the hire.

Below the reel, organize work into three to five category pages (brand, documentary, event, music, social). Each piece should list the client, role you held, year, and a one-line context note.

Keep the reel under two minutes of playback and refresh it every six to nine months. An old reel signals you haven’t shot recently, even when you have.

Software and Gear Stack

Producers staff shoots based on the gear you can step onto. Make this block easy to skim and specific to model numbers.

  • Camera: Sony FX6 (owned), FX3, RED Komodo, Canon C70, Blackmagic Pocket 6K
  • Lenses and support: Sigma Art primes, Sony G Master zooms, DJI Ronin 4D, Easyrig
  • Lighting and audio: Aputure 600x and 300x, Astera tubes, Sennheiser MKE 600, Rode Wireless Pro
  • Post: Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve Studio, After Effects, Frame.io, Photoshop

Awards and Credits

A dedicated credits block tells a creative director which rooms you’ve been in. Put it on page one if the names carry weight in your specialty.

  • Telly Award, Bronze, branded short "Northbound," 2025, director of photography
  • Vimeo Staff Pick, documentary short "Last Shift," 2024, shooter and editor
  • SXSW Film Festival, official selection, "Quiet Hours," 2024, second camera
  • Selected clients: Patagonia, REI, Allbirds, Dropbox, Headspace

Videography Credentials That Get You the Job

A reel and shoot history keep you eligible. The certifications below are what move a videographer resume from the qualified-but-typical stack into a creative director’s shortlist. List the issuing body, year passed, and any current rating in one line.

  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate: Signals you can legally fly commercial drone work, which adds a billable shot type to most brand and real-estate shoots.
  • Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Certified User: Tells post supervisors you can cut and grade in Resolve without onboarding time, which matters on color-heavy brand and music projects.
  • Adobe Certified Professional in Premiere Pro: Useful for agency and in-house teams that standardize on Adobe pipelines and want a baseline editor competency on file.
  • Frame.io or Adobe Workfront Workflow Training: Signals you can run review-and-approval cycles with clients, which is what separates a shooter from a content lead.

Latest BLS Statistics for Videographers

Videographer is a mid-sized occupation in the BLS film and video editors and camera operators group, which means the median absorbs a wide range of staff, freelance, and event-shop variants. A staff brand role at an agency, a wedding shop, and a network news shooter all sit inside the same code.

To position above the median, lead your resume with the client tier you’ve shipped for and the deliverable type that commands the highest day rate in your market.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I write a videographer summary that gets read?

Open with years behind the camera, the work you shoot most, the gear and NLE you operate, and a reel link.

Skip adjectives like "passionate" and "creative." A creative director would rather read "six years shooting brand content on Sony FX6, edit in Premiere and Resolve, reel at link" than a personality statement.

The reel does the rest of the talking.

How should I list freelance videographer work on a resume?

List freelance work under one employer line called "Freelance Videographer" with your city and the years active. Avoid one entry per client; the resume gets long fast.

Under that header, group three to six named clients as sub-bullets. Note the deliverable, the camera package, and any reach or client metric you can share.

Add a separate "Selected Clients" line if the list is long. Brands carry more weight than project counts here.

Do I need to put a reel link on my videographer resume?

Yes. The reel link goes in the header next to your email and phone, and again in the profile so a reader can find it on a quick scan.

Use a clean Vimeo, YouTube, or personal-site URL. Avoid password walls. Creative directors will not chase a password during a first read.

How do I show AI-tool work on a videographer resume without sounding like hype?

Name the tool, name the step in the pipeline where you used it, and tie it to a measurable result. "Used Adobe Firefly for background plate generation, cutting two days of VFX time per spot" reads as workflow, not slogan.

Skip "AI-powered" and "AI-driven" as descriptors. Creative directors screen those out because they signal hype over hands-on use.

What resume template should a videographer use?

A modern template lets your reel link and project list take center stage. A creative template is another way to go.
