Post a warehouse manager opening and you'll watch the applicant pile climb into the hundreds before the week is out. Distribution centers, 3PLs, e-commerce fulfillment operations, and manufacturing plants are still posting these roles constantly; the crowd around each one is the real friction. What pulls a hiring read forward is hard scope on the floor you ran: SKUs, square footage, headcount, and the pick accuracy or OTIF numbers you moved.

Larger DCs route resumes through an ATS scanning for WMS fluency (SAP EWM, Manhattan, NetSuite) before an ops director sees them, while smaller shops often read straight through. We've studied thousands of warehouse manager postings, so the examples below, spanning inbound, fulfillment, and cold storage, show you how to prove that scope from shift lead to director.

Tip !

The warehouse manager resumes that advance past the first ops-director scan share three things: a named facility size in the opening lines, OSHA recordable rate trended across two or three years, and the WMS platform spelled out by version.

Why this resume works
  • Numbers tied to real operations: Square footage, headcount, and budget all appear so the reader knows the scale of the role.
  • Shows safety progress, not just slogans: Tracks injuries from 11 to 3 instead of saying he values safety.
  • Career growth inside one company: Promotions from shift supervisor up to assistant manager show steady trust before the current role.

Warehouse Manager Example

You are running a single shift or a department inside a larger DC, with three to five leads reporting in. This resume needs to prove pick accuracy, safety record, and the WMS you operate in daily.

Warehouse Manager Example

Use This Template
Why this resume works
  • Real promotion story: Going from shift supervisor to warehouse manager at the same site shows the company trusted her with more.
  • Caught a real problem: The mis-pick example shows she figures out root causes, not just symptoms.
  • Safety record stated clearly: Nine months with no recordables is a concrete number a hiring manager can verify in an interview.

Senior Warehouse Manager Example

You own a full facility or a multi-shift operation with 50 plus associates and budget authority. The senior warehouse manager resume has to show OTIF, cost per unit, and a multi-year safety trend at a named building.

Senior Warehouse Manager Example

Use This Template
Why this resume works
  • Project came in early and under budget: The WMS migration line gives a date and a dollar figure, which is rare and specific.
  • Cut turnover, not just costs: Dropping turnover from 71% to 44% shows he leads people, not just operations.
  • Grew other managers: Calling out three supervisors promoted under him proves he develops a bench.

Director Example

You set strategy across a network of distribution centers and report into supply chain or operations VPs. The director resume needs P&L scope, capex projects, WMS implementations, and the headcount you have hired and developed.

Why this resume works
  • Scope a director needs to show: Six sites, 1,180 associates, and an $84M budget all answer the size question on the first read.
  • Opened a new site early: Greenfield builds are hard to fake, and the 11-month timeline with a two-week early open is the kind of detail recruiters trust.
  • Safety result with outside proof: VPP Star recognition is an OSHA program, so the safety claim is backed by something verifiable.

How to Write a Warehouse Manager Resume

01 Open with what a peer manager cannot claim

Lead with the single operational detail another warehouse manager in your market likely cannot match. That might be a SAP EWM rollout you owned, a cross-dock conversion, or a 24/7 cold-chain facility under your control.

Put it in the summary line, not buried in bullet seven. An operations director reading 80 resumes needs a hook in the first two seconds: facility size, WMS platform, and the one outcome you moved most. Skip the generic line about driving results.

Name the building, the daily order volume, and the metric you own.

02 Quantify throughput, safety, and labor

Warehouse work translates cleanly into numbers. Strong resumes name two or three operational metrics per role.

Anchor each bullet to one of these: pick accuracy percent, OTIF rate, inventory variance, cost per unit shipped, OSHA recordable rate, or units per labor hour. Pair the metric with scope: SKUs managed, square footage, daily order count, and headcount supervised. A line that reads ‘lifted pick accuracy from 97.2 to 99.4 percent across 18,000 SKUs’ beats a paragraph of soft claims.

03 Group bullets by operational category

Sort your work into four buckets so the reader can map your scope in one pass. Use Throughput and Fulfillment, Safety and Compliance, Inventory and Cycle Counts, and People and Labor Planning.

Under each bucket, lead with the biggest number and the platform you ran it in. Throughput bullets name WMS and order volume; safety bullets name recordable rate and audit results; inventory bullets name variance percent and cycle count cadence; people bullets name headcount, span of control, and shift structure. This grouping reads cleanly in an ATS and in a five-minute floor interview. If you supervise a shift or crew rather than manage the whole warehouse, see our warehouse supervisor resume examples for ways to present that scope.

04 Place credentials and tools on page one

Operations directors and logistics VPs want OSHA 30, forklift certification, and your WMS stack visible without scrolling. Build a four-line credentials and systems block under the summary, above the experience section.

List OSHA 30 (or OSHA 10), Lean Six Sigma belt, PMP if held, and any forklift or reach truck tickets. Add a Systems line naming SAP EWM, Manhattan SCALE, Blue Yonder, NetSuite WMS, or Oracle WMS by version. A separate Equipment line names RF scanners, voice picking, and conveyor or AS/RS systems you have managed.

05 Cut what a director resume should not show

If you are targeting a director or senior manager role, cut bullets that describe associate-level work: picking, packing, loading trucks, or driving a forklift on shift. Those signal the wrong altitude.

Also trim early-career roles older than 15 years to a one-line entry with title, employer, and dates. Drop high school, hobbies, and references-available lines. Replace them with capex projects you scoped, network-level KPI ownership, and the WMS or automation implementations you led from selection through go-live.

Must Have on a Warehouse Manager Resume

Name your OSHA training. Include the class of forklift you are certified to operate.

OSHA Certifications

Safety credentials are the fastest filter on a warehouse manager resume. List them in a dedicated block under your summary with the year earned and, where relevant, the issuing trainer or authorized OSHA Outreach instructor.

  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry (year)
  • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry (year)
  • Powered Industrial Truck operator certification, Class I, IV, V (issuing employer, year)
  • Forklift Train-the-Trainer (year)
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED (American Red Cross or equivalent, year)
  • HAZWOPER 24- or 40-hour (if handling regulated materials)
  • DOT Hazardous Materials general awareness training (year)

Tools of the Trade

Name the WMS, ERP, and equipment you have operated by product name and version. Generic phrasing like ‘warehouse software’ does not match an ATS keyword search and reads as vague to an operations director.

  • WMS: SAP EWM, Manhattan SCALE, Blue Yonder WMS, Oracle WMS Cloud, NetSuite WMS, HighJump
  • ERP: SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Labor and yard: Kronos, UKG Pro WFM, C3 Solutions YMS
  • RF and voice: Honeywell Vocollect, Zebra RF scanners, pick-to-light
  • Equipment: forklift Class I, IV, V; reach trucks; order pickers; pallet jacks
  • Automation: AS/RS, AMRs (Locus, 6 River Systems), conveyor and sortation (Dematic, Honeywell Intelligrated)

Warehouse Management Credentials That Get You the Job

Beyond OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 and your forklift ticket, the certifications below tell operations directors and logistics VPs which operating systems you can run and how deep your process discipline goes.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt: Signals you can lead a DMAIC project on pick rates or inventory variance, not just sit through a kaizen event.
  • APICS CPIM (Certified in Planning and Inventory Management): Tells the reader you understand the supply chain math behind safety stock, MRP, and demand planning that drives your floor.
  • Certified Logistics Associate or Technician (MSSC CLA/CLT): Useful for managers moving up from the floor; shows formal training in safety, quality, and material handling fundamentals.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional): Worth listing if you have run WMS implementations, facility startups, or automation rollouts at the capex level.

Latest BLS Statistics for Warehouse Managers

Top-paying states for warehouse managers cluster around port complexes, high-cost metros, and states with dense pharma or e-commerce fulfillment networks, not the traditional manufacturing belt many candidates target first. Pay scales with facility size and the complexity of the WMS and automation under your control. If you are open to relocating, foreground the facility size and daily order volume you have managed, then name the WMS platform.

Those three data points let a recruiter map your experience to their building in under a minute.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should a warehouse manager resume summary include?

Lead with years of experience, the largest facility size you have managed in square footage, and the WMS platform you ran. Add daily order or unit volume.

Then name the metric you moved most: pick accuracy, OTIF, or cost per unit. Close with your OSHA recordable rate or a safety milestone. Three to four lines is enough.

Should I use a resume objective or a professional summary?

Use a professional summary, not an objective. Objectives read as dated and tell the reader what you want.

A summary lets you front-load WMS platforms, facility scope, and KPIs that the ATS and the ops director both scan for in the first pass.

What bullet points work best for shipping, receiving, and order picking?

Anchor each bullet to a number paired with scope. For shipping, name OTIF percent, daily truck count, and carrier mix.

For receiving, name dock-to-stock hours and PO accuracy. For picking, name units per labor hour, accuracy percent, and the SKU count you cover.

How do I move from warehouse supervisor or foreman to warehouse manager on paper?

Recast your bullets around outcomes you owned rather than tasks you performed. Replace 'supervised pickers' with a number-led line: 'Led a 22-associate pick team to 99.3 percent accuracy across 12,000 SKUs.'

Add any budget input, hiring authority, and coaching scope you carried. Pull cross-functional work with transportation, inventory control, and safety up to the top of the role.

What's the best resume template for a warehouse manager?

An ATS-friendly template pairs your OSHA cards with your WMS experience. A basic template also works.
